The Task Story

Originally starting out in 1995 as a lampshade and plastic component manufacturer under the name Profile Plastics the name Task Lighting was acquired shortly thereafter. An early adopter in the LED market the business focus was changed in the late 2000’s to focus exclusively on this new technology. The old Profile Plastics name disappeared in 2018 leaving behind the Task Lighting as we know it today. At this time, it was also decided to specialise in providing linear LED product including profiles and strip with a raft of customisation and manufacturing setup to enable this. The sister company Lumatech was later established to provide higher power and commercial sized product with integral componentry and also highly customisable profiles.

Supply of Task Lighting product is mixed from long established family run businesses in China and local NZ manufacturing. Many of the products are custom or exclusive designs and undergo full electrical safety, performance and longevity testing before being released. Task strives to be as customer focussed as possible with straightforward designs and no fuss warranty and product support, resolving issues as fast as possible. Recently the company has moved to a newly refurbished site in Avondale twice the size of the previous. This incorporates design, R&D, LED manufacturing workshop, fabrication and warehousing with a second warehouse and manufacturing facility in Christchurch.
